"This partnership between the Leagues and CO-OP means that members of participating credit unions can not only advantage of surcharge-free ATMs via CO-OP Network, but other products such as CO-OP Mobile, that allows members to handle transactions via their cell phones and other devices," said Sylvia Fath, Senior Vice President, Business Services for the Leagues.

"In addition, CO-OP Financial Services contributes so much to the credit union movement, including subsidizing surcharge-free ATMs at 7-Eleven and other retail stores," said Fath. "The cooperative also makes generous contributions to credit union charities and causes, such as sponsoring League Shapiro credit unions to attend GAC, to the NCUF and to Children's Miracle Network Hospitals via its CO-OP Miracle Match program."

The California and Nevada Credit Union Leagues are promoting CO-OP products, including network, e-commerce, payment processing and call center services. As part of the agreement, CO-OP will be supporting industry education initiatives by the leagues.

"The Leagues are important partners in our shared goal to make sure credit unions can compete with banks in terms of offering their members convenient means to access their accounts anywhere, anytime," said Ritch Ellis, vice president, sales, CO-OP Financial Services. "This agreement gives us an even better opportunity to offer additional services to the credit unions of these two states."

There are more than 7,700 credit unions in the United States. About 436 of these are in California and 23 in Nevada. Of the more than 91 million credit union members nationwide, more than nine million are in California and more than 370,000 are in Nevada. Currently there are about 5,300 CO-OP Network ATMs in California and Nevada, 3,000 of which take deposits.
