CO-OP Financial Services Expands Its Credit Union Partnerships In Pacific Northwest

Three credit unions in Oregon and Washington have awarded four contracts to CO-OP for access to CO-OP Network, including 28,000 surcharge-free ATMs (9,000 deposit-taking) nationwide; payment processing services, and debit card program management.

Among the 700 CO-OP Network ATMs in Oregon, 400 are deposit taking, while in Washington 1,000 surcharge-free ATMs are available to members of participating credit unions, 600 of which are deposit taking. CO-OP Network, extending from credit union branches to retail locations like 7-Eleven and Costco, is larger than that of any national bank ATM network.

"The new contracts from the Pacific Northwest show the importance of offering members access and convenience services in order for credit unions to remain competitive in this economy," said Ritch Ellis, Vice President, Sales, for CO-OP. "With more ATM locations, particularly deposit-taking, credit union checking accounts become more attractive to existing and potential members."

CO-OP's new clients in the Pacific Northwest include:

  • Pacific Spruce Federal Credit Union, Toledo, Oregon.  (http://www.pacificsprucefcu.com). The institution will use CO-OP for payment processing and debit card program management.
  • Valley Credit Union, Salem, Oregon.   (http://www.vhpecu.org). This contract gives access to CO-OP Network for its members.
  • Community Healthcare Federal Credit Union, Everett, Wash.(http://www.commhealthcu.org). This credit union also contracted for CO-OP Network access.

"Our members were asking for broader access to surcharge-free ATMs and CO-OP, with its 700 ATMs in Oregon alone, was the best fit," said Christopher Monti, chief financial officer for Valley Credit Union. "We have been live since May 5 and the partnership has worked very successfully, allowing us to provide the service conveniences sought by our members and ensuring we remain their primary financial institution."
