Kaua’i Government Employees’ FCU Joins CO-OP Network

Kaua'i Government Employees' FCU is the latest credit union in Hawaii to join CO-OP Network. CO-OP Financial Services now has about 30 clients among credit unions in the Aloha State, and CO-OP Network includes over 100 ATMs, more than 40 of which are deposit-taking, on the islands.

"We joined CO-OP Network to advance our service proposition to our members," said Corinne King, President/CEO of Kaua'i Government Employees' FCU. "Being on an island, many members travel to neighboring islands or to the mainland and having access to surcharge-free ATMs almost anywhere is a great benefit. We hope to reach more of our island's youth attending college or residing elsewhere. Our participation should also decrease the number of members calling to request a surcharge-free ATM nearby, or members needing to drive to our office to get funds.

"Our strategy is to increase service by leveraging technology and our partnership with CO-OP Financial Services fits well into that vision," said King.

With about $80 million in total assets, Kaua'i Government Employees' FCU (www.kgefcu.org) serves more than 5,700 members, primarily federal, state and county employees working on the Garden Isle of Kauai, the fourth largest island in the state. The credit union is based in Lihue, Hawaii, more than 100 miles northwest of Honolulu.

Participation in CO-OP Network enables members of Kaua'i Government Employees' FCU to access more than 28,000 surcharge-free ATMs (including 9,000 deposit-taking) nationwide. As the most expansive credit union-only ATM network in the nation, CO-OP Network also provides links to virtually every national and regional system.
