For every PIN transaction, the PIN entered is validated against the PIN offset stored on the card's magnetic strip, preventing the use of a stolen card without the correct PIN. |
|
As an added layer of security CO-OP validates these values encoded on the magnetic strip when the card is swiped. This prevents authorizations on "re-encoded" cards where the value and key are unknown. CVV is used by Visa, CVC by Mastercard, CVI for ATM cards. |
CVV2/CVC2 Authentication
CVV2/CVC2 authentication provides merchants with additional safeguards against fraudulent online and telephone orders. This coding is indent-printed on the back of debit cards. Merchants generally require the cardholder to provide the code, ensuring that the customer placing the order possesses the card and that the card account is legitimate. |

Allows your cardholders the convenience of choosing their own PINs without compromising security. CO-OP supports member PIN selection after the card is issued. The offset for the new PIN is stored on the cardholder file and validation is done using the most current offset instead of the one encoded on the card's magnectic strip.
PIN selection and changes can be completed using an ATM for on-us transactions, that is, the cardholder is at the credit union's ATM and the ATM is driven by CO-OP. If your credit union orders cards through CO-OP, PIN selection and changes can be completed using a Voice Response Unit (VRU). Cardholders are required to supply specific account information to ensure their identity |
The Address Verification Service (AVS) limits the risk associated with the growing number of transactions that take place without the card being present, as with telephone and internet purchases.
