Card Activation protects your cardholders from fraudulent use of their cards before they take possession of them.  Cards are shipped to members in an inactive status to limit the exposure of stolen card usage.  To use the card, activation steps must be taken using information that is known to only the cardholder, such as performing a PIN transaction or calling a specified number and providing personal cardholder data.

You can design your activation program to use the first pinned transaction, or CO‑OP’s Voice Response Unit (VRU), supported by an optional Help Desk service that is manned 24 hours a day.  Choose from a variety of authentication options, such as birth date, mother’s maiden name or social security number.  You can feel secure that issued cards are protected and legitimate cardholders will be able to quickly and conveniently activate their new cards.

Card activation also helps your credit union spot potential fraud by identifying attempted activity on non-activated cards.  Detailed reports provide a summary of activated cards as well.
